We all know the story of Ebonisa Scrooge, but few of us realise that old Ebonisa was an accountant. Not only did he come from a long line of accountants, but his great great grandson is still an accountant practicing in the City of London just like old Ebonisa.

Last year, just like his great great grandfather Fred was visited by 3 ghosts.

But not on Christmas Eve, it was on the First of January. … known as “Tax Season Eve”

The story goes a little like this…

It was January 1^st and all through the land, all the creatures were stirring, there was chaos at hand.

The festive joys had passed…. A New Year in the air,

Fred found the files were hung in the cabinets with care

He hoped when he looked, they would be there!

A bundle of appointments, clients old and new

He’d toss their tax info into the queue

All the receipts had been piled on the table with care,

Ready to be organized and entered into accounting software.

He was tossing and turning when the clock struck 1 and when the first ghost came he wanted to run!

Ghost 1… Ghost2 … and Ghost 3 was no fun…

His eyes, crossed and bloodshot, with wrinkles a-showing

His hair all pulled out and his nose all a-glowing

For tax time gets us from our heads to our toes

Not much time for Sleeping. That’s just how it goes…

So next time you talk to an accountant, instead of looking down on them as a boring... 

Think of old Fred Scrooge and what he’s controlling…
